In Colorado, a roofer can't pay, waive or rebate any part of your insurance deductible, or even promise to. Here's what else the law requires before you sign.

Your rights under Colorado roofing law

From Colorado's roofing contract law (SB 38, C.R.S. 6-22). Print it. Stick it on the fridge.

A written, signed contract first

It must list the scope of work and materials, the cost, approximate dates, and the roofer's contact and insurance information.

72 hours to change your mind

You can cancel within 72 hours of signing and get your deposit back.

72 more hours if your claim is denied

If your insurer denies the claim in whole or in part, you can cancel within 72 hours of that written notice.

No deductible games

A roofer can't pay, waive or rebate your deductible, or promise to.

Your deposit is protected

Payments are held in trust until materials are delivered or most of the work is done.

Roofers aren't adjusters

A roofer can't act as or claim to be a public adjuster. Under a valid contract, they can discuss repair scope with your insurer.
